Running Cheetah

This composition, with its linear base, interprets the tremendous speed of the running cheetah and the jagged textural qualities accentuate the sense of blurred motion. The loosened textures of this sculpture create the dynamic of a fluid series of movements, rather than the frozen appearance that would arise from a more realistic treatment.

Stellenbosch Gymnasium

In 1866 this opened as a First Class Public School, and in 1874 it set up its own professorial division, the start of the present faculties of arts and science. In 1887, the jubilee year of Queen Victoria’s reign, Her Majesty consented to the College’s name being changed to the Victoria College of Stellenbosch. Due to traffic noise, the Gymnasium was later moved to the annexe of Bletterman House.
